The Definitive Guide to Big Bass Slots
Big Bass Bonanza and its many sequels represent one of the most-loved slot series in recent memory. With over twenty five games currently available in the Big Bass slots series, though, you could be forgiven for not knowing where to begin. That’s where this guide to Pragmatic Play and Reel Kingdom’s most successful series comes in.
Today, we are providing the definitive guide to slot games in Pragmatic Play’s ever-popular series, covering RTP rates, volatility, maximum wins and much more, allowing you to compare the various titles. We have done the homework and collected the data, so you don’t have to spend hours trawling to fish out details about the best Big Bass slot games.
In this guide, we’ll showcase how each game is different from its counterparts. We will touch on what makes these games tick and explain why each game in the franchise is worth exploring. We have fallen in love with the series since the first game, Big Bass Bonanza, debuted back in late 2020. Our Big Bass slots guide is written by avid fans of the series, so you can trust us when we say there are no better slots to try your hand at online.
Introducing the Big Bass Slot Series
While slot series (as a concept) have been around for thirty years, there haven’t been many that match the extensive portfolio of Big Bass slots. Since the original game launched in 2020, the humble angling-themed slot has spawned over twenty sequels, including Halloween and Christmas-themed releases, games with Megaways mechanics, highly volatile options and more. All the while, Pragmatic Play has kept the same loveable and likeable theme throughout.
It all began on December 14, 2020, when Pragmatic Play, inspired by successful slots such as Reel Kingdom’s own Fishin’ Frenzy, unveiled their take on the genre – the original Big Bass Bonanza slot. It provided an immediate hit and was in no small part (alongside other games) jointly responsible for popularising the money collect mechanics that dominate the slot industry right now. The first Big Bass Bonanza slot rode the waves for nine months before a sequel, Bigger Bass Bonanza, debuted on September 16, the following year.
To date, the nine-month gap between the first and second releases remains the longest period between games. As the years have gone by, new releases have been added to the franchise at an increasingly rapid rate. 2024 saw the launch of nine new Big Bass games, and, in early 2025, the latest games in the series debuted, including Big Bass Return to the Races, Big Bass Dice, and Big Bass Bonanza 1000.

While there are subtle differences (and sometimes major changes) between each release, many Big Bass online slots feature the same tried and tested features. Most are highly volatile, although there is a selection of medium-high variance games in the collection. You’ll be pleased to discover that the RTP rates for all games sit firmly in the 96% mark.
Maximum wins can vary from 2,100x up to 20,000x, with the biggest wins available in Big Bass Hold & Spinner Megaways. Bets flex from 0.10 up to 250.00 in most releases, although there are exceptions. Big Bass Megaways slots, for instance, start at 0.20.
How to Pick the Best Big Bass Games
Which Big Bass slot machine is ideal for you depends on what you’re looking for – there’s something for everyone in this series, which is part of the reason it’s so popular. The biggest differences between the games can be found in volatility, RTP and maximum wins. Choosing a Big Bass Bonanza series slot based on one of these aspects could be the way to go for many. With that in mind, here are the key games you’ll want to consider if choosing a Big Bass slot based on any of those features:
- Lowest Volatility: Low variance Big Bass slots are ideal for new players and those on smaller budgets due to the frequency of wins being magnified, albeit with smaller prizes. There’s not much to split the games, but the slots with the lowest volatility include Big Bass Bonanza 3 Reeler, Big Bass Bonanza Reel Action, Big Bass Halloween, Christmas Big Bass Bonanza, and the original Big Bass Bonanza slot.
- Highest RTP: Playing slots with the highest RTPs ensures the highest maximum returns over time. At 96,71%, the original Big Bass Bonanza slot, alongside Bigger Bass Bonanza, Christmas Big Bass Bonanza, Big Bass Splash, Big Bass Christmas Bash, and Big Bass Halloween 2 feature the highest RTP rates. The two Big Bass Megaways slots aren’t far behind, though, at 96.70%.
- Biggest Wins: Of course, it’s always tempting to play the slots with the biggest wins. If you can stomach the extremely high volatility, then Big Bass Hold & Spinner Megaways is the way to go at 20,000x. You can also bag cash prizes worth up to 10,000x in Big Bass Bonanza Keeping It Reel, the Hold & Spinner, Amazon Xtreme, Day at the Races and Xmas Xtreme slots.
Our Top Four Standout Big Bass Slots
As huge Big Bass Bonanza fans, we’ve naturally got our own favourites, too. Having played every game since the original, we can honestly say that four games stand out from the pack, and we’ll explain why below.
- Ideal for New Players: Anybody dipping their toes into the slot series for the first time may wish to try the original Big Bass Bonanza slot. It features simpler mechanics than many of its successors. The game allows you to easily become familiar with all the core concepts, many of which you’ll want to learn if you plan on playing the other slots later. It’s also widely available and regularly appears in casino promos.
- Brutal Gameplay: If you want a highly volatile experience to the extreme, then Big Bass Hold & Spinner Megaways should tick your boxes. A word of warning, though – the game is brutal for beginners. As a result, this game offers the biggest prize (20,000x) currently available in the Big Bass series. We recommend only tackling this slot if you’ve got a sizable budget to sustain gameplay during losing streaks until this high variance slot coughs up the goods – which it will, in time. You just have to last long enough to bag them.
- The Biggest Divergence: Head for Big Bass Amazon Xtreme if you want a slot that really deviates from the tried and tested format of its sister slots. This is an entry that isn’t afraid to do something different, with increasing collect levels, new random goodies, and pick features. It’s quite an evolutionary leap for the series. If you ever grow tired of the famed format in Big Bass slots, Amazon Xtreme is what you play next.
- The Newer Entries: If you’re looking for one of the newest games in the series, you may wish to try Big Bass Return to the Races. It has a lower RTP rate than many of its counterparts and revisits the popular racing theme from Day at the Races. It’s also largely a new skin slapped over the Big Bass Secrets of the Golden Lake slot, but the inclusion of a pick-and-win feature to determine which of several free spin mechanics you land is appealing.
Every Big Bass Slot Explained Simply
As with any slot series, you’ll find similarities between the various releases. There’s also no shortage of differing mechanics and features in play, so it may be worth looking at each release individually to discover where they compare and contrast with one another. Let’s walk you through the basics of each game in the series according to their date of release. We’ll start with the pioneering first slot, Big Bass Bonanza:
#1 Big Bass Bonanza
Released in December 2020 and the first game in the series, Big Bass Bonanza holds a special place in the hearts of many. The original game eases players into concepts they’ll later need to know to play the other games in the franchise. Its medium-high variance rating makes it a good entry-level slot for first-timers. It supports an RTP rate of 96.71% and a non-progressive jackpot worth 2,100x, costing between 0.10 and 250.00 a spin.
The slot introduces players to Fisherman wilds and Money Fish symbols. During the free spin bonus, Money Fish symbols (which support multipliers) can be collected and added to your balance. Fisherman wilds can reel in those multipliers, and collecting four or more will increase multipliers (up to 10x) and provide additional spins.
Rating: 5/5
#2 Bigger Bass Bonanza
Launched nine months after the original, Bigger Bass Bonanza increases the volatility level and stakes, which vary from 0.12 up to 240.00 a spin. The prizes are also boosted, with wins worth up to 4,000x here. While the original game featured ten paylines, there are twelve available in Bigger Bass Bonanza. An additional feature comes during the free spins round, where Money Fish symbols may be randomly added to the reels, courtesy of a randomly triggered bazooka-inspired mode.
Rating: 5/5
#3 Big Bass Bonanza Megaways
In November 2021, Pragmatic Play gave the brand a Megaways makeover. The result is a game with an increased RTP rate (96.7%), extremely high volatility, and an adjustment to the betting range, which stems from 0.20 up to 100.00. Played over the customary six-reel Megaways format, you’ve got up to 46,656 ways to win here. This naturally means there are tumbling-reel mechanics, potentially leading to several successive cascading wins with the same stake.
As always, there is a free spin round, and it works in the largely the same way as those of its predecessors. In terms of features, the bazooka mode introduced in Bigger Bass Bonanza makes a welcome return (of sorts) and is joined by a dynamite feature. The latter adds Money Fish symbols if there are only wilds on the screen, while the bazooka mode destroys all symbols save for Fisherman wilds.
Rating: 4/5
#4 Christmas Big Bass Bonanza
Many slot developers introduce seasonal slots, most of which are clones of already existing games. That’s what you’ll find with Pragmatic Play’s Christmas Big Bass Bonanza, too. Aside from its new festive and frozen paint job, the game is a carbon copy of the original Big Bass Bonanza slot, so we have to mark it down for that. However, if you fancy playing the original, or you want to get into the Christmas spirit, then swapping out our favourite fisherman for Santa makes sense.
Rating: 3/5
#5 Big Bass Splash
Launched in June 2022, Big Bass Splash sees the franchise head to the Wild West. Our hero may be dressed like a cowboy, but he’s still casting lines to land big catches. An RTP rate of 96.71% is par for the course by now, but the prizes have increased from 2,100x in the original to 5,000x. It isn’t just its theme that breaks new ground. There are plenty of features to enjoy in Big Bass Splash.
You’ve got the bazooka feature added extra Money Fish symbols, the dynamite feature adds Fisherman wilds, and now there’s a hook mode that can grab a reel, adding another wild, all of which pop up in the free spin bonus. The slot was also one of the first to introduce the buy-a-bonus mechanic in the series. While inaccessible for UK players, this allows you to buy your way directly into the free spin round for 100x your stake.
Rating: 4/5
#6 Big Bass Bonanza Keeping It Reel
Big Bass Bonanza Keeping It Reel’s base game is largely a rerun of features you’ll already have seen if you’ve played its predecessors. A top prize of 10,000x immediately catches the eye, though. A highly volatile game, it is in the free spin bonus in Keeping It Reel, where you’ll find new features. Alongside the usual randomly triggered modes, you’ve also got Golden Wilds. When these land, they’ll gather up all the Money Fish symbols on the reels, adding them to your balance.
Big Bass Bonanza Keeping It Reel is arguably one of the more challenging entries to get used to. The presence of the Golden Wilds complicates gameplay, and while they are beneficial, their presence lowers the RTP rate to 96.07%, which, at the time of the game’s launch in October 2022, was the lowest yet seen.
Rating: 3/5
#7 Bigger Bass Blizzard
Technically known as Bigger Bass Blizzard: Christmas Catch, this game debuted in November 2022, just in time for the festive season and returns to the twelve-line format first seen in Bigger Bass Bonanza. It features largely the same mechanics and features as that game, too, albeit with a winter wonderland makeover. It incorporates the hook feature into the action, albeit at the cost of an RTP rate of 96.08%, which is a touch lower than the game it is effectively a clone of.
Rating: 3/5
#8 Club Tropicana
The only game not to feature “Big Bass” in the title, Club Tropicana debuted in February 2023 and sees our bearded Fisherman take some well-earned time off. Again, the lower RTP rate (96.08%) is in play, with highly volatile action, and a wagering range of 0.12 to 240.00 is in place. Gameplay is largely the same as Bigger Bass Blizzard, albeit with a whole new set of imagery on the reels, including lifesavers, fruit, cocktails and cash.
While it’s certainly nice to see different imagery in terms of gameplay, there’s nothing new in this Big Bass release. It’s easily the most forgettable game in the series, but every software provider is allowed one hiccup here or there.
Rating: 2/5
#9 Big Bass Bonanza Hold & Spinner
After a few releases that largely felt like clones, Pragmatic Play and Reel Kingdom came out fighting in March 2023 with Big Bass Bonanza Hold & Spinner. An extremely high volatile release, this game takes the action back to ten lines, and it keeps the 10,000x jackpot and 96.07% RTP rate. You’ve got the usual array of random modifiers and free spins, but there’s also the titular Hold & Spinner feature to consider.
Money symbols in this game drop as coins or diamonds. Three or more will activate the Hold & Spinner mechanic. Effectively a Hold and Win game, you’ll receive four re-spins on reels with blank spaces and money symbols. Already existing money symbols freeze in place, and new re-spins are granted when additional ones appear, although they aren’t sticky. This allows you to collect cash in an entirely new way for this series.
Rating: 4/5
#10 Big Bass Amazon Xtreme
Our favourite fisherman has become an intrepid explorer in Big Bass Amazon Xtreme. As its name suggests, the volatility in this game is off the chart, so expect a 10,000x non-progressive jackpot to offset that. Launched in June 2023 with a whole new set of imagery, Big Bass Amazon Xtreme also brings new features to the table. In fact, it’s packed with goodies, making it one of the most exciting games to play if you’re looking for a Big Bass slot that truly does something different from its sister slots.
A randomly triggered feature can see Money Fish symbols potentially collected in the base game, with random multipliers up to 50x possible. The free spin round goes in a new direction, too. In the base game, landing just two scatters could see either a re-spin or the hook feature dish up an all-important third scatter. You’ll get a pick feature before the free spin bonus, and this can trigger extra free spins, guaranteed Money Fish symbols, fisherman wilds already collected, or remove the lowest fish symbols from the reels. In the feature itself, there are eight Fisherman Wild collect levels (instead of the usual four), and other perks include random money icons, the usual hook mode, and a waterfall feature that can randomly turn any standard symbols into something different.
Rating: 5/5
#11 Big Bass Hold & Spinner Megaways
Slot players looking for a challenge should look no further than Big Bass Hold & Spinner Megaways. If you thought Amazon Xtreme ramped up the volatility, then check out this game. It’s naturally built on top of Hold & Spinner but features six reels, the cascading wins mechanic, and mystery symbols in both the slot’s base game and free spins. You’ll get the same Hold & Spinner mode that debuted in the ninth game, too. To make up for the brutal volatility, Big Bass Hold & Spinner Megaways offers the biggest prize to date, at 20,000x.
Rating: 5/5
#12 Big Bass Halloween
Our hero has apparently turned villainous in this release, resembling the killer from the I Know What You Did Last Summer film series. We know he’s not, and it’s just his attire, but parallels can be drawn. As with most thematic deviations, the only thing we were scared of in this game was that it would turn into another clone of the original – it did. Launched in October 2023, Big Bass Halloween is a somewhat hollow entry. It’s fine if it’s that special time of the year, but otherwise, it’s just Big Bass Bonanza with some less-than-creepy imagery on top.
Rating: 2/5
#13 Big Bass Christmas Bash
With numerous Christmas-themed variants already unveiled by the time Big Bass Christmas Bash debuted in November 2023, you could be forgiven for wondering where the slot could go next. Our friendly festive fisherman has gone ice-fishing this time, which features a top prize worth 5,000x, higher volatility than the original, and five random modifiers, including dynamites, hooks, bazookas, the chance to start on level two of the collection feature, extra spins, and more Money Fish or Fisherman Wilds on the reels.
Rating: 3/5
#14 Big Bass Floats My Boat
The first Big Bass slot of 2024 sticks with the idea of a 5,000x non-progressive prize, but it has an RTP of 96.07% to compensate. In terms of gameplay, Floats My Boat has the usual 5-reel, 10-line, 0.10 to 250.00 wagering range and highly volatile action but works random money collection mechanics into the base game.
An Octopus can appear at random to pull random wilds into action, replacing the hook mechanic in the free spins round. In the base game, an Octopus may reward you with a missing scatter if you have just two. Lastly, you have the option of buying Super Spins, allowing you to collect just three wilds to level up instead of four, but it’s a costly addition at 300x the bet.
Rating: 3/5
#15 Big Bass Day at the Races
Big Bass Day at the Races launched a month after Floats My Boat, in March 2024. A highly volatile Big Bass game with a top prize worth 10,000x, there’s the customary swapping out of angling imagery for horse racing in the UK here. This slot is feature-heavy. There are random multipliers of up to 50x on money symbols in the base game, and a pick-me round before free spins, offering additional spins, guaranteed money symbols, three wilds already collected, and the removal of low-paying horse symbols.
In the bonus round itself, Day at the Races offers the eight-tier level-up feature found in Amazon Xtreme and random events to boost the bonus itself. These include random money and wild symbols, symbol-switching options and a lasso feature that can add both symbols to the reels.
Rating: 5/5
#16 Big Bass Secrets of the Golden Lake
April 2024 saw the release of Big Bass Secrets of the Golden Lake; an Arthurian legend take on the series. While the base game and free spins play out as usual, there is a Golden Lake Free Spins round up for grabs alongside the normal one. This is a Hold and Win round, with blanks, Money Fish and fisherman icons appearing. As is customary with these rounds, any money symbols captured (via fisherman) are added to your balance, with multipliers worth up to 10x possible by levelling up. Symbol transformation, hook modes, and the usual random modifiers can appear in both free spin bonuses.
Rating: 4/5
#17 Big Bass Bonanza Reel Action
Big Bass Bonanza Reel Action was the first medium-high variance entry in the series for a while. Launched in May 2024, it reverted back to a 2,100x jackpot and an RTP of 96.5%. This slot release is effectively a reboot of the original, albeit with a buy-a-bonus mechanic that takes you directly to free spins and an Ante Bet mode to increase your chances of landing the feature. At heart, Reel Action is simply offering the same Big Bass Bonanza experience as the original, albeit with a lower RTP and allegedly fan-requested prebuy options. It’s easy to give this one a miss if you don’t want to buy into the features.
Rating: 3/5
#18 Big Bass Mission Fishin’
2024 was the year Pragmatic Play seemingly tried to tie Big Bass slots with all manner of popular themes. Apart from its catchy name, Mission Fishin’ is, for the most part, a spy-themed version of the games directly before it. You’ve got the five pre-bonus modifiers, with dynamite, hook and bazooka modifiers in the free spins round for you to enjoy. The latest new feature is the Stack the Cash mode.
If you choose Stack the Cash over the free spins feature (and you can pick), you’ll once again be engaging in a Hold and Win round, with winnings collected by robo-crabs. The highlight here is a randomly triggered bomb that doubles the value of any Fish Coins (multipliers) acquired by the robo-crabs.
Rating: 3/5
#19 Big Bass Vegas Double Down Deluxe
September 2024 saw the launch of another new game and another new theme, this time loosely inspired by the fisherman’s trip to Vegas. A jackpot of 5,000x and an RTP of 96.5% can be found in this highly volatile game. The game is notable for featuring two wilds (red and blue) based on cards. This means there are two meters to level up, potentially making things a bit trickier for players. Bazooka, hook, and dynamite features naturally appear, and the feature buy mechanics are included again for non-UK players.
Rating: 3/5
#20 Big Bass Halloween 2
A zombified Leatherface is the inspiration behind Big Bass’ second Halloween-themed slot. Launched ten days before Halloween in 2024, it’s effectively a sequel to Big Bass Splash, albeit with a larger cash prize (5,000x) and all the random modifiers and trimmings found in the last few games to debut before it. Bazookas are replaced with chainsaws, but if you look past the imagery, you’ll find the same likeable slot release, albeit enhanced for the spooky season.
Rating: 3/5
#21 Big Bass Xmas Xtreme
Big Bass’ most recent Christmas-themed slot popped up in November 2024. It’s set in Antarctica, and despite its name, we didn’t find the game any more volatile than most of the others in the series. It has a top prize worth 10,000x and an RTP of 96.07%. You do get value for money, though.
If you’re prepared to stick it out, there’s a pick feature before the free spin round and variations of the random modifiers present throughout the feature, albeit under new, thematic names. The sheer number of bonus mechanics means there’s a small learning curve required if you haven’t played these games before.
Rating: 4/5
#22 Big Bass Bonanza 3 Reeler
We were super excited to play Big Bass Bonanza 3 Reeler when it debuted in December 2024. As its name suggests, it’s a 3-reel, 5-line game taking players back to the olden days of fruit machines and classic slots. Don’t be fooled, though. It’s got a top RTP of 96.5%, a non-progressive haul of 5,000x up for grabs, and costs between 0.10 and 250.00 a spin, like most of its counterparts.
What’s more, though, is that this game has the free spins mode, random dynamite, hook and bazooka modifiers, the level-up mechanic, and even buy-a-bonus features. There’s quite a lot going on underneath his seemingly simple slot, and it’s one we highly recommend.
Rating: 5/5
#23 Bigger Bass Splash
Slot players who wanted a ramped-up version of Big Bass Splash got their wish in February 2025 when Pragmatic Play unveiled this title. Bigger Bass Splash may have the same RTP, maximum win limit, wagering range and volatility level that most of its predecessors often support, but it combines elements of Big Bass Splash and Bigger Bass Bonanza. It’s one of the most “complete” slots in the series, amalgamating most of the previous features found in the series into one release.
Rating: 4/5
#24 Big Bass Return to the Races
This game launched on February 24, 2025. It revisits the popular Day at the Races theme. The appropriately named Big Bass Return to the Races has more in common with Secrets of the Golden Lake, though. For instance, there’s a pick mode that triggers either the free spins round or the Gold Cup, with the latter, of course, mimicking Hold and Win gameplay.
Developed by Reel Kingdom and Pragmatic Play, the slot supports ante bet and feature buy mechanics, but it’s ultimately a reskin of previous games. If you’ve only played the original game, you’ll appreciate the huge jump in features between the first and most recent releases. If you have tried Secrets of the Golden Lake or Day at the Races, you’ll know what to expect with this reskin.
Rating: 3/5
#25 Big Bass Dice
Big Bass Dice aims to mix things up by doing away with the conventional symbols and imagery and focuses on red, blue and white dice instead. Dice slots (as they are known) such as this are popular in selected European casinos. The game hasn’t ditched all its angling imagery, though, with wilds appearing on all its reels during the free spin bonus, while scatters also trigger said bonuses.
Expect to see money symbols appear as dice in this game; they’ll trigger largely the same bonuses as in the conventional game, with wilds collected in the free spins round to trigger multipliers. A random feature can see just one wild appearing offering additional fish money symbols. Dice aside, the slot is, in many ways, a re-skin of the original Big Bass Bonanza slot, right down to having the same RTP, wagering range, and prizes.
Rating: 2/5
#26 Big Bass Bonanza 1000
The most recently launched Big Bass slot from Pragmatic Play, Big Bass Bonanza 1000, comes with extremely highly volatile action and an impressive non-progressive jackpot to match, capped at 20,000x. Unveiled in April 2025, the game offers five reels and ten lines, and it follows a similar gaming premise to some of the other “one thousand slots” in Pragmatic’s library, such as Gates of Olympus 1000 and Sweet Bonanza 1000. In short, the game gets its name because its fish money symbols can be worth up to 1,000x.
Of course, you have the same features as before, in that there are wild collection multiplier mechanics, free spins with fish money symbols, and during free spins, fish symbols can randomly pop up if a wild emerges. The hook mechanic also reappears, adding wilds or money symbols into the mix at times. The bonus buy mode allows instant access to the free spins round, albeit at a cost of 100x up to 450x a stake.

Our 5 Top Tips for Playing Big Bass Slots
You can apply most of the strategies you’d use for bankroll management and slot gameplay in other games to those in Pragmatic Play’s Big Bass series. However, having played these games for over five years, we’ve also learned a few things that you’ll definitely want to take onboard before playing any Big Bass release. Let us leave you with our five top tips for playing Big Bass slots online
- We personally recommend starting with the first game, Big Bass Bonanza. This introduces most of the concepts and features you’ll find in its sister slots, but it’s less volatile than many of its successors. It’s good to get a handle on these when there’s less risk involved.
- Every Big Bass slot can be played for free at Pragmatic Play’s website. We encourage you to make use of those free Big Bass slot demos. This will help you understand how each Big Bass Bonanza game works before you risk your cash on them.
- If you aren’t familiar with them already, learn about RTP and volatility. They differ from game to game, and understanding how they work will help you make an informed choice about which game to play and how to structure your bankroll and bets.
- Some Big Bass games have buy-a-bonus mechanics. If you’re based in the UK, these will be deactivated, as per UKGC regulations. If you’re based elsewhere, it is up to you whether you wish to utilise those mechanics. You don’t need to, though, as every game’s features can be won automatically without buying bonuses outright.
- Pragmatic Play sometimes selects Big Bass slots for its Drops & Wins tournaments. This represents an ideal time to play these games, as it’s possible to complement and maximise your wins by bagging Drops & Wins cash alongside in-game winnings picked up playing Big Bass slots.
